   There WERE a lot of great shows for “kids” in the 90’s. Beavis and Butthead, Ren & Stimpy, the one with the guy who had a lawnmower blade in his head, Austin Powers, that could be enjoyed by both parents and kids although one’s parenting skills and ethics immediately became called into question when doing so. But Pete and Pete was the best. So absurd and yet so insightful with the sentiments. The world was run by the Petes and Ellen and the parents were bumbling yet well meaning and charming. For me as a Dad it was nostalgic and good fun and a great shared experience with my kids (when we all cracked up at Artie, a bond was formed!).

   Also, we used to take photos to be developed to a kiosk very similar to Ellen’s in Olathe and it was in a parking lot too. And, you mentioned Syd Straw, Michael Stipe, Matthew Sweet, and Kate Pierson…but…you forgot about Iggy Pop playing a suburban father which in itself was priceless.

   Finally, Syd Straw had two great solo albums the latter of which, War and Peace, was produced and recorded in Springfield, MO…great show and thanks!

      I could have sworn we talked about Iggy Pop in the podcast, but I guess we didn’t! I know Reba and I discussed that at SOME point. I’m pretty sure Iggy doesn’t show up until Season 2, though, so we might not talk too much about him.

      But yeah, great show. I’d say Pete and Pete was definitely more aimed toward actual children than some of the other ones you mentioned, but they WERE childhood favorites of mine.
